Art Reproduction: The Basic Rules

Some people have this common misconception about “reproductions not being art.” That these painting replicas are nothing but fakes and that they’re a waste of time to buy. Although everyone is free to think however way they want, I still want to stress my own view of art reproductions. And as far as I’m concerned, they are neither fakes nor frauds. Here are two BIG reasons why I came to this conclusion:

  1. Art reproductions do not try to stage or claim that they’re the real deal. They’re called reproductions because they are reproductions. They aren’t really trying to trick anyone into buying them because they’re legit.
  2. Handmade reproductions still require intense skill. The idea or design behind the masterpiece may not be original but that doesn’t change the fact that the artist behind the reproduction is a genius. It requires talent to create great art. It requires patience, skill, and technique to replicate great art. I for one believe that the challenge of mimicking the exact technique used for a particular painting and producing something that can rival the quality of the original is far greater than creating a unique piece of work.

Creating Chalkboard Art Like a Pro

In the art world, chalk is arguably an overlooked medium. Anyone would agree that chalk is associated far more with chalkboards in schools, than with artwork. Yet chalk has actually been widely used in creating artwork since the 15th century. Masters such as Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo used chalk to experiment with chiaroscuro and provide an early outline for many of their masterpieces. Over time, chalk became a common, cheap, writing medium.

A recent resurgence in the use of chalk as an art medium gave rise to 3D street art. Chalkboard art has also become increasingly popular in stores and restaurants as a form of visual art used for advertising and marketing. There are also many artists who specialize in using chalk to create murals and wall art.

Can Old Be Gold? Historic Homes as Investments

You know what they say, what’s old is new again. Buying a property in a historic district is probably a unique investment you could ever make. You own a relic of history and allow tenants to have a one-of-a-kind rental experience too. That being said, however, buying a property in a historic district can present its own set of challenges that you would not face by buying a traditional property. It could definitely be worth it in the end of the day if things are properly executed.

Older homes usually come with better quality construction. This is not just a nostalgic fantasy – they’re better-built because in the past, higher grades of lumber were easier to come by, and labor was relatively cheap. Builders could afford to spend more time on craftsmanship that can’t easily be replicated in today’s houses.
