The Sweets Shop menu has expanded week by week: alongside the sweets, pick-and-mix and gifts available from the start, new sections have been added for brands (Biscoff, Baileys, Haribo), occasions, seasons and dietary preferences.
The plan, at least, is clear and ambitious. The introductory text talks about traditional and modern sweets, with Haribo, Bassetts and Swizzels taking centre stage, alongside Vidal, Bebeto and Sweetzone for the wholesale section, whilst the collections cover retro sweets (Black Jack, Fruit Salad, Flying Saucers, Love Hearts), hard sweets (pear drops, sherbet lemons, cola cubes), pick-and-mix by brand – including Lindt and Lindor – as well as halal, vegan, sugar-free and gluten-free options, gifts by post, personalised jars, wedding favours and collections sorted by colour. For a shopper looking for a specific type of sweet, the layout is already more refined than in many functional shops.
The difference between Sweets Shop and a functional shop lies in the figures. Almost all the products on the homepage are listed at 99 or 99.99 pounds, a packet of chewing gum sticks at 9 pounds and the vegan fizzy dolphins at 0 pounds; these are the placeholder values left by the template until someone enters the actual prices and the 'Add to basket' button becomes active. The product pages currently contain only a photograph and the price, with no weight, ingredients, allergen information or description, whilst the new brand and special offers pages are still blank beneath the heading.
The legal pages on Sweets Shop are at the same stage. The legal notice states that the site is operated by Sweets UK, and in two places the placeholder text remains, with the company name in square brackets; the contact details consist solely of an email address on a different domain, with no telephone number, contact form or opening hours. The delivery policy, however, is comprehensive: processing within one or two working days, standard delivery in two to five days, within the United Kingdom only, with claims for damaged parcels to be made within 48 hours.
