ANSI\/SAIA A92.22, the safe use standard for mobile elevating work platforms, took effect in the United States in June 2020, and all three of the A92 standards covering design, safe use and training have been in force since August 2021. It does not leave the inspection interval up to your judgment.<\/p>\n A frequent inspection is required when a machine is put into service, when it returns after three months out of service, or after three months or 150 hours in service, whichever arrives first. An annual inspection is required no later than thirteen months after the previous one, and the machine has to be marked with the date so that the marking itself becomes part of the prestart check. That is a 26 percent fall in deaths, involving 211 people across 26 countries. Most incidents happened on construction sites, at 37 percent, followed by arboriculture and electrical work at 13 percent each.<\/p>\n The leading causes of death or major injury in 2024 were overturns, then entrapment, then falls from the platform. Read that list again and notice what is missing. Almost none of it is a component wearing out. Overturns come from ground conditions and planning.
